Thomasson-style neo-Gothic decorated corkscrew

A superb antique corkscrew combining fine materials and Gothic decoration. The finely chiseled bronze shaft depicts Flamboyant Gothic architecture: mullioned windows, pinnacles, crossbars, and quatrefoil motifs reminiscent of cathedral stained glass. The turned bone handle, mounted in a cross shape, is adorned at one end with a small brush for cleaning the neck of the bottle, which is in excellent condition.

The wick, with its full helical coils, is original. This type of luxury item, combining functionality and ornamentation, was often a table accessory in bourgeois homes of the Second Empire or the Belle Époque.

Very good, beautiful patina, functional wick, complete brush, rare collector's item on the market.
