Gilded wooden wedding barometer | Restoration time

This superb wedding barometer of 1819 , traditionally offered by parents to the newlyweds, is a moving testimony to the refinement and uses of the time. With inspiration Louis XVI , he sports a rich sculpted decor: bay leaves, knots, rays of heart and pearls , as well as a pediment decorated with two birds kissing , symbolizing union and eternal love. Its finely decorated dial , signed and based on the principles of Torricelli , is in a beautiful state of conservation. Although this instrument is no longer functional, it remains an exceptional piece, ideal for a collection or to enrich an interior of character.
