Large pair of marquetry paintings in marble and hardstones, 19th century.

An exceptional pair of marquetry panels in marble and polychrome hardstones on a black marble ground, attributed to the Opificio delle Pietre Dure of Florence

Each panel depicts a colorful bird perched on a floral bouquet, inlaid in a rich assortment of marbles and semi-precious stones (malachite, lapis lazuli, porphyry, rosso antico, bloodstone, etc.)

The compositions are set in thick frames of yellow Siena marble and sealed on slate, a technique characteristic of 19th-century Florentine productions.

In very good condition, these rare and cheerful decorative panels are a fine example of the art of pietra dura applied to wall decoration
