Pair of gilded wooden wall sconces

Spectacular pair of gilded wood wall sconces, likely from a theater or music venue. The decoration is richly adorned with musical instruments, the diversity of which can be seen in the photographs. A knot surmounts the sconce, while at the base is an open book above a mask, terminating in a passementerie design. The decoration also includes pine cones, bunches of grapes, a satyr, and the god Pan. Two light arms highlight this magnificent sculpture and the quality of its gilding. Note its considerable size. Work from the first half of the 19th century
