This delicate pastel represents an elegant lady of high society at the end of the 18th century. Hailed in the fashion of time, with powdery hair decorated with pink flowers, it embodies with grace the female ideal of the pre-revolutionary era. His soft and slightly melancholic gaze, as well as the finesse of the model of the face, reflect the refinement of this technique on paper.
The character holds in his left hand a white flower, undoubtedly a lilk, symbol of purity and nobility. Its gold embroidery bodice and its drapery with hot shades still enhance the nobility of the subject. The composition, both sober and elegant, is magnified by a dark background which underlines the diaphanous complexion of the model.
