With a soaring height of 1.25 meters , these cathedral-like backs command a unique sculptural presence, ideal for structuring a prestigious dining room or a castle gallery.
Symbolism and the Work of Sculpture
The central element of this suite is its richly ornamented backrest:
- The Medallion: It features a double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, a symbol of imperial power and high nobility.
- The Crown: The medallion is surmounted by a closed crown whose stylized central fleuron (trilobed motif) evokes the coats of arms of the great lineages of Central or Southern Europe.
- The Finish: The structure is enhanced by an original cream lacquer , accented with gold highlights. The patina, in its natural state, with authentic cracks visible throughout the wood, underscores the age and history of these pieces.
