Rouen earthenware, late 17th century

A Rouen faience hanap, a type of large drinking cup, a term used in the Middle Ages. The decorative motifs on this cup echo those found on silver or pewter cups or hanaps. A bearded man's head wearing a hat is located beneath the spout. The base of the cup is pedestal-shaped, and a scrolled handle is attached to the side. This faience piece belongs to the family of high-fired ware in white and blue. Very good condition
