Strong chest in wrought iron painted 18th century

Rare and decorative wrought iron chest from the end of the 17th and early 18th century, with riveted structure and massive hinge lids. It is most likely an old security or value transport chest (post, customs, military or commercial use), converted in the 19th century into a decorative object.

The peculiarity of this trunk lies in its exceptional hand painted decor, romantic style: animated port scenes, sailboats and classic architectures in floral patterns, surrounded by friezes of roses. The whole is underlined with golden nets in a very refined taste.

Central hut closure system with list for padlocks. Lateral and frontal iron handles of original wrought iron.
