Trio of tender porcelain handle knives around 1720

Elegant set of three old knives with tender hand-painted porcelain sleeves , attributed to the prestigious manufacture of Saint-Cloud , active at the beginning of the 18th century.

The sleeves have a refined decor of polychrome chinoiseries , typical of orientalist fashion which seduces European courses at the end of the reign of Louis XIV. We distinguish characters in exotic costume , stylized pagodas , as well as a delicately enhanced plant decor , manganese, yellow and turquoise .

The wrought iron blades are fixed by a silver ferrule . One of them has a "crowned" punch , a typical brand of a French master of the 18th century , probably active in the major cutlery centers like Langres or Thiers . This punch authenticates the artisanal quality of the blades and their perfect chronological adequacy with the sleeves.

rare and refined set , emblematic of the beginnings of French tender porcelain and taste for Chinoiseries under the Regency. Objects at the crossroads of the tables of the table, cutlery and ceramics.
