Carved oak wall console - France 18th

Old cul-de-lamp or wall console carved in solid oak, representing the bust of a woman with an expressive face, wearing a pleated cap knotted on the forehead. This sculpted figure evokes the popular arts of the 18th century, in a style that is both realistic and inhabited.
