Text:
This touching carrare white marble sculpture represents a childish figure draped in an ancient inspiration tunic. In her hand, she holds an openwork garland whose complex forms evoke floral, coral, or symbolic patterns. Perhaps a discreet echo with romantic meditations on the passage of time, without going as far as the explicit representation of a vanity.
The child could be Saint John's Baptist Child, he wears a cross around his neck.

Probably carried out in Tuscany around 1870-1890, this work combined sensitivity, technical mastery and classic inspiration. The leaning face and the gentle attitude reinforce the meditative charm of this scene.
A sculpture full of grace and mystery, ideal for a refined interior.
