Chest and its base | Thuja burl in walnut and bone | 17th century

A rare chest on its original base, featuring six hard walnut feet carved from the heartwood and sculpted into a twisted shape. A drawer is located in the frieze, and the tabletop edge is made of alternating black-stained bone. The chest itself is highlighted with a light wood marquetry band on the front, sides, and top, which has a slight convex shape. The wood used is thuya burl and walnut burl, creating a beautiful decorative effect. Its bronze fittings are original, though some of the hooks are missing. The high quality of the keyhole escutcheon is noteworthy.
