Description
This carved wooden statuette depicts a putto caught in a dynamic movement, characteristic of the Baroque repertoire of the early 18th century. Bare-chested, he is draped in voluminous fabric with deep folds, drawn up over the left shoulder. His expressive face combines incised eyes with curly hair rendered in relief. The right arm, extended forward, ends in an openwork hand intended to hold an attribute. The sculpture retains an old brown patina. Losses affect the left arm and the lower legs, related to its former mounting on an altarpiece or an element of interior architecture.
