Description
Display column, or pedestal, in turned wood with black lacquer, embellished with carved elements and gilt-leaf decoration. Dating from the 18th century and of French origin, it features a cylindrical shaft resting on a base with gilt molding, itself set on a rectangular plinth. The upper section is topped with a Corinthian capital adorned with acanthus leaves and corner volutes, supporting a square top. At mid-height, a substantial applied cartouche unfolds in Rocaille scrolls, acanthus leaves and floral motifs carved in relief. The piece retains its old patina, with signs of use and slight losses to the gilding revealing the Armenian bole and the plaster ground.
