Description

Set of six white glazed porcelain plates, produced in France circa 1980-1990 after the graphic designs of Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) dated 1958. The set comprises three designs, each appearing twice: a poet’s profile crowned with laurels, a dreamlike composition combining a face and fish in shades of blue and yellow, and a figure of Orpheus playing the lyre. Each plate bears the artist’s printed signature, accompanied by his astrological sign or characteristic star. Through linear drawing and mythological imagery, the set conveys the poetic universe associated with Jean Cocteau.
