Tyrolean wedding box, late 18th century

This box is distinguished by its superb original polychromy on a dark background (midnight blue/grey). The front is structured in three molded panels:

  • The two large side panels feature stylized bouquets of flowers (yellow sunflowers and blue flowers), typical of rustic alpine iconography.
  • The central panel frames the lock with two floral motifs in red and ochre.

The box has a flat, overhanging lid, painted in fir green and edged in bright red. Its compact dimensions (50 cm wide) make it a particularly easy-to-integrate piece of occasional furniture.

Original raw wood. Presence of the inner side compartment (secret/jewelry box) and its long wrought iron band hinges.

  • Cut-out wrought iron lock escutcheon.
  • Original lock with visible mechanism under the cover.
  • Supplied with its original wrought iron key.
